Friends at Braes

Friends at Braes

Friends at Braes is the school's parent-led fundraising group, and as a Parents' Association, the group plays a tremendous part in the life and work of the school. The main purpose of Friends at Braes is fundraising for the school, and the group have made significant contributions to a wide variety of developments over many years. However, Friends at Braes is also about supporting the wider school community. By supporting events in school, FAB contribute enormously to supporting our school's positive ethos, bringing a real parent-school partnership to many events such as concerts, exhibitions, information events and primary/secondary transition activities. Obviously in more recent times, the ability to hold `normal' events has been restricted. However, even during the current circumstances, FAB has remained active, inventive and supportive of the school. Friends at Braes meetings are, as the name suggests, friendly, but also positive, constructive and most importantly, all about the young people of Braes High School. Pupils often appear at these meetings, bringing proposals and ideas to the group. At present, meetings are being held online, and it has been great to see such positive discussion continuing in this different way of getting together. Friends at Braes is also heavily involved in supporting fellow Braes families, through uniform recycling and also by promoting school events and information.

Dear Parent/Carer,

Friends at Braes are the parent/carer led fundraising group within Braes High School. We met some of you at the recent P7 pastoral evening and look forward to meeting more of you when your young person joins the school in August.

You will see attached:
• Friends at Braes flyer - this explains what we are about and various ways you can get in touch/follow what we do
• FAB Lotto membership form - the lotto is one of our steady income streams throughout the year. For just £2 a month or £24 for an annual membership, you could be the lucky winner in one of our monthly draws! If you are interested in signing up, please fill in the attached form, scan or take a photo of it and email it over to friendsatbraeshigh@gmail.com
• FAB achievements - this will give you a flavour of events we support across the school as well as what kinds of pupil or staff led initiatives we've been able to fund over the past session.
Our AGM is scheduled for Monday 26th August where we'll appoint office bearers for the 2024/25 session. We then hold committee meetings roughly every 6 weeks thereafter and would love to welcome some new members with fresh ideas.
